Methodological challenges in a word-to-picture priming task
Idea would be to involve the students in the discussion of a recently developed task: I would present the idea behind the task, would share methodological challenges that we faced in developing the task, and have the students discuss these challenges/come up with possible solutions. Finally, I would share how we decided to solve these issues and present data from different versions that we have tested.

Designing measures to assess knowledge of formulaic language

In this session I will demonstrate a number of measures designed to probe knowledge of binomial expressions. Participants will have hands-on experience with a number of paper-based measures, and there will be opportunity to discuss their strengths and weaknesses, as well as considering how they might be adapted for other types of collocations. In addition, we will look at methods that can be used to investigate participants’ perceptions of phrasal frequency.
